Former Prosecutor Sues San Joaquin County DA’s Office

Former San Joaquin County prosecutor Marjorie “Andi” Burrise has sued the District Attorney’s Office, alleging racial bias, gender discrimination, abuse of power, and breach of fiduciary duty. Mark Bowman represents her.

Burrise says the office placed her on leave, suspended, demoted, and ultimately fired her after she raised concerns internally, including about how her family was treated following the 2020 death of her cousin in a Stockton police shooting. The State Bar of California cleared her of the recording allegation the office cited in her termination. The DA’s office declined to comment, citing personnel confidentiality.
